Lazy Summer Days in Lanzarote
Looking for somewhere where you can enjoy a really relaxing break this summer? Then head for Lanzarote, the laid back Canary Island that has been far less developed than bigger neighbours such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Lanzarote is the third most popular of the Canary Islands but has been much less developed. And as a result makes for a far more pleasing and relaxing holiday environment. With the three main resorts all carefully confined in the south and no high rise buildings whatsoever.
Many visitors in search of a relaxing break now book private accommodation such as Lanzarote villas and apartments direct. Giving them more privacy than they would enjoy in a hotel. Along with the freedom to pick and choose where and when they want to eat. There are literally thousands of good restaurants in Lanzarote and plenty of places to buy fresh fish and meat for the Barbie.
Playa Blanca is the most laid back of the large resorts and offers plenty of scope for chilling out. With villas in Playa Blanca providing plenty of comfort, space and privacy and most also boast their own private swimming pools too. Making it easy to just lay back and soak up the sunshine.
Tourists in search of something to do are advised to hire a car and take a tour around the island. As Lanzarote is home to a lot of interesting attractions. From Playa Blanca it is just a fifteen minute drive to the volcanoes of the Timanfaya National Park. Which is a truly impressive sight. Whilst other natural wonders such as the Green Lagoon and Los Hervidores are also in close proximity.
Car hire in Lanzarote is very well priced in relation to other Spanish holiday islands and it’s a nice and safe environment in which to drive. Visitors looking to hire car must be aged 23 years or over and be in possesion a full clean driving licence. The island is so small that it possible to drive from end to the other in around an hour or so.
Head for the north to discover the real Lanzarote, characterized by palm packed valleys and farmers fields. Along with pretty white washed villages such as Haria, Guatiza and Maguez. One of the most popular attractions here is the Cactus Garden which was built by the local artists César Manrique. And which is home to over 1400 of the plant world’s spikiest specimens.
